There are some really great ways to cut costs on your wedding flowers, while still ending up with gorgeous, full looking bouquets for you and all of your bridesmaids.
Lets be honest. Nowadays, money is tight. Recently engaged couples jump into the wedding planning process and most have no clue how much flowers cost. When they are presented with an estimate, they tend to become overwhelmed and shocked. So I figured I would give you folks the inside scoop.
Generally, fresh cut flowers are pretty darn pricey.
Let’s take bouquets such as these….
A florist working with fresh cut flowers would generally charge you around $175+ for the bouquet that the bride is holding. You would probably be paying, roughly $120+ per bridesmaid bouquet.
A few years back, I created this bouquet for one of my brides….
This bouquet included similar flowers that appeared in the first picture, with a few additional hydrangeas and mums added. The price for something like this in silk……$95.
The bridesmaids bouquets were priced at $75 each.
So, when you get right down to it….you’re not only saving yourself a bundle of cash, you’re saving the world by creating flowers that will last forever and not harm the environment with extra pesticides.
In regards to bulking up bouquets, while maintaining a small budget….consider peonies. If you’re working with silk, the season doesn’t matter. Peonies are big and voluptuous. Four of them can easily create a bridesmaid sized bouquet. To top it off- they are stunning!
Happy Wedding Planning!
